AIM's S. Conley visits Red Rum

AIM programs Steve Conley jumped out of the pot and into the fire this week with his debut appearance to Red Rum Studio in Middletown. Conley had been recording in Trenton, Ohio's Brookwood Garage for the last several months but his first deadline studio appearance was under the watchful gaze of R.R.'s Jay Brunner. "I gave him a deadline date where he had no choice but to perform flawlessly and wanted him to be in a totally new studio and with an unfamiliar engineer and producer as a kind of test," ADR Prez Hoffman said of the Wednesday night [2/27] session. Although Steve found himself in a strange environment for the first test it turns out that he's known the engineer for years. Conley is a former student of Brunner's middle school music class at Verity School in Middletown. All things considered the young accordion player rose to the challenge and before long found himself performing with both Brunner and Johnny B. drummer Rik Krebs as the session moved forward. "He played this song for me and I immediately called Rik to come and jam," Red Rum's Jay Brunner said of the jam. "He was great to work with and I look forward to working with him again," Brunner added. Well Mr. Brunner gets his wish and Steve will return to Red Rum in March and fans can catch AIM's Steve Conley later in the month when he performs live on radioADR with Jimmy Rogers.
